About Arcadia

Arcadia Virtual Reality Lounge was inspired by an admiration for the powers of virtual reality, combined with the idea of an all-around stellar experience. Before starting Arcadia, we enjoyed virtual reality experiences whenever we had the chance. It was a new and exciting way to have fun; more like laser tag or paintball than traditional gaming. While we loved the experience, we didn’t love that is wasn’t available in Kelowna. We also began thinking up ideas that could make the experience even better.

That’s when we decided to open Arcadia Virtual Reality lounge in Kelowna in 2017. We wanted to make virtual reality available to others, and share our ideas with all of you.

Our vision for Arcadia was that it would be an incredible, one-of-a-kind experience from the minute you walk through the doors, to the minute you walk out. Come visit Arcadia Virtual Reality lounge in Kelowna and let us know how we did!

How It Works - The technical stuff

this is what makes it all tick

We knew that in order to provide the best experience, we needed the best technology. That’s why we use HTC Vive headsets paired with the best in computer components. Our booths are all individually powered with Intel i7 processors for the best performance, an entire terabyte of solid-state disk space for ludicrous game loading capabilities, and a 1080ti graphics processor unit, designed to make your experience at our facility as vivid and lifelike as possible. We wanted to push the envelope even more with our large booth, so we added a second graphics card in Scalable Link Interface configuration, squeezing out as much computational power as we can muster.

We also use SynthesisVR as our management software in our Arcadia Virtual Reality Lounge in Kelowna, which makes it easy to navigate the VR system and choose games. It also offers a quick and simple tutorial on how to use the system and controls, so you can spend less time learning and more time playing.

What is VR?

Imagine being transported into another world by simply putting on a headset. You look around to see a reality that’s not physically there, but looks and feels like it is. You may be tempted to reach out and touch things that don’t actually exist.

That’s what virtual reality is like – and while the science behind VR is a lot more complicated, it’s extremely simple to use.

Advanced computer systems, comfortable headsets, and handheld controllers are used to immerse you in a virtual world. You may end up soaring around the globe, swimming with whales, or even fighting alien invaders with laser guns. How many of your friends can say they’ve done that?

That’s what we thought.

The truth is, to fully understand what VR feels like, you have to try it. If you can experience it for the first time without saying “wow!”, we’ll give you ten bucks (not really, but we will be pretty surprised).

From all of us at PLC, Enjoy using your card. Have FUN!
